This shifts for older elementary students, who often divide their study time between the living room and their own rooms. By middle school, the trend reverses, with a preference for studying in their own rooms, a pattern that solidifies further in high school. This detailed understanding of developmental progression aligned our position of the ACTUS Kids' furniture not as static pieces, but as adaptable solutions that can support a child through various life stages, addressing a primary concern for parents seeking longevity and relevance in their investments.

I owe my drive, determination, and grit to my humble beginnings. My 16 years in entrepreneurship (establishing atomi pte ltd) stem from watching my parents work hard to support our family. They raised us in a rented flat, yet managed to send my sister and me to university while facing challenges in a large extended family. Their efforts inspired me to appreciate what I have and not take anything for granted.

Since I was a fresh graduate, there’s no room for a graduation tour, a sabbatical, or even the concept of work-life balance, as we work 7 days a week; my focus is unwavering as I provide for my family and everyone in the atomi family.

 

Building a brighter future for my two daughters

Bringing in Actus Hause by Atomi has not been easy. In the past eight years, we have faced tough competition and challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and a tariff war. Yet, despite all these, we are soldiering forward with pride, determination, and perseverance. Running a business is tough; managing two is crazy, and collectively, a 25-years worth of collective time in Orchard Road within the same building feels like eternity. If this is not grit, what is?

As ACTUS häuse by atomi approaches its 8th anniversary on April 12, 2025, co-founder Andrew TAN embraces the opportunity to expand our businesses in Japan and Singapore. Some people may give up on having a living and dining space on their compact floor because of the limited room space. The THYME series offers an "LD style" that combines the functions of a living room and dining room, allowing you to create a relaxing space where you can spend time comfortably even in a compact room.

Combine a THYME series sofa set, chair, and desk to create a relaxing living and dining space for the family. The THYME Dining Table is available in 75 cm and 65 cm heights, but the 65 cm height type, which is easier for dining, can be selected and combined with the THYME series sofa (seat height 39 cm) to create a spacious area. 

2【If you want to create a sense of harmony in your space】
The THYME series is also recommended for those who "want to separate the living room and dining room with same tone furnitures," or "want to use the space more spaciously when inviting guests". By purchasing additional chairs, benches, and sofa parts, you can flexibly adapt to changes in space and number of people. Since a sofa set consists of a bench sofa, a corner sofa, and an ottoman, you may change the combination depending on the atmosphere and space of the room, such as placing the ottoman and corner sofa in the dining space and the bench sofa in the living space.

3【I want a cozy workspace in my living room】
THYME sofas have cushions that do not sink in and are slightly firmer than other sofas. By using it with a side table, you can create a workspace in a living room or dining room.

4【No need to worry about stains on the sofa】
THYME sofas are of the covering type for easy maintenance. For daily  maintenance, you can use fabric protectors or remove dust from the surface to keep it clean, but if it is heavily soiled, please remove the cover and send it for cleaning according to the laundry label.

How do you choose a sofa? There are many factors, such as room size, number of family members, interior design, materials, and colors, that may cause some people to feel uneasy. In this column, we would like to introduce you to BUILD, a fabric sofa that can be customized to fit your lifestyle and fulfill your ideal needs.

1. A wide variety of designs, sizes and fabrics
Build sofas can be customized in a variety of designs, from spacious family couches, armless sofas, sofas with wood trays or wood arms, ottomans, and sofas with or without back cushions. You can also choose from a wide range of fabrics in various colors and textures to suit your taste.

2. A unique and convenient wood arm and tray arm
The most recommended sofas in the BUILD series are those with tray arms or wood arms. The tray arm can be used as a side table or a shelf for storage. It is nice and convenient to have a little side table for coffee or reading time on the sofa. It is also perfect when you want to refresh yourself by working from home in a different location as it is large enough to work on a PC. You can also decorate it with plants and lights to enjoy the interior.

3. Optional back cushions and flat cushions
The cushions are offered in both back and flat versions. The back cushions are composed entirely of feathers. The flat cushions come in sets of two, one 50 cm square and the other 60 cm square, both with no gussets. The back cushions are comfortable and supple to support your back. These can also be utilized as pillows if placed on the arm side, making it more comfortable to use while laying down. Without back chusions, you have greater space on the seat surface.
